Natasha lost her husband Derek to brain cancer in 2019. Towards the end of his life, caring for Derek's physical needs became impossible for Natasha and they transferred to a palliative care facility. While this allowed her to spend their final weeks together as a husband and wife, it meant that Natasha had to choose between spending each night with her husband or with their 4-year-old son. That is a choice no person should ever have to make!
